Ash's Eye of Gaulguth
This baleful blue eye was cut from the head of the Slaad-Yugoloth hybrid known as Gaulguth of the Evil Eye. Gaulguth was originally a nycaloth and a member of the Trio Nefarious who invaded Myth Drannor more than 900 years ago. He was infected with a blue-slaad tadpole by Melastasya and later killed by the wizard Arasheth Ellindir when he was found feeding on one of the Pools of Radiance. The eye was implanted in Ash’s head by the crazed sorcerer Yarash.
The eye grants Ash the following abilities.
Freezing Gaze: If a creature starts its turn within 30 feet of Ash and is able to see the eye, the creature must make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is frozen solid and is restrained. It must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends. A dispel magic or any fire damage will immediately end the effect (no save necessary).
A creature that isn’t surprised can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If it does so, it can’t see Ash until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again. If it looks at Ash in the meantime, it must immediately make the save.
If Ash sees his own reflection within 30 feet, he must make the saving throw himself.
Icy Gaze: As an action, Ash can cause the eye to emit a emit a 30-ft. cone of freezing cold. Creatures caught in the area take 14d6 cold damage and may make a Dexterity save (DC equal to Ash’s spell save DC) for half damage. Once this ability has been used it cannot be used again until Ash has completed a short or long rest.
Malign Eye: As a bonus action, Ash can afflict one target within 30 feet with his malign eye, causing it to suffer Disadvantage on the next saving throw it makes against one of Ash’s spells. This effect lasts until the target makes a saving throw, or until Ash uses the malign eye on another target. This ability may be used at will.
