Glaive of the Vanguard

Category:
weapon (melee)
Description:

This polearm has a notched blade of blackened steel. Layered reinforcements bolted to the backside of the blade give the impression of a monstrous face, and hook into the cloth-wrapped iron handle. The Glaive of the Vanguard was taken from an Abishai by Arha Robertsdaughter during a brief but eventful trip through the first layer of Hell.

The Glaive of the Vanguard heightens the bearer’s senses, granting a +2 bonus on all Detection Proficiencies and to Surprise checks as long as it is held in hand. Wielded in combat, it also grants a +2 bonus to the wielder’s attack and damage rolls, and can strike creatures as if it were a +2 magic weapon.

When braced and set to receive a charge, the Glaive of the Vanguard deals an additional 2d6 points of damage on a successful hit, in addition to the normal doubling of damage to a charging opponent.

Weight: 8 lbs.
