Kropserkel's Shield of Striking

A battered, bladed shield taken from a kobold in the Slums.

Category:
weapon (melee)
Description:

Measuring three feet in length, this rusty black-iron shield was nearly a tower-shield for its original kobold owner. With its angled pale, distinct central ridge, and sharp blades mounted dexter and sinister of the base, it is equally effective at both offense and defense.

Kropserkel’s Shield of Striking functions as a normal, medium shield when used defensively by any creature larger than a kobold. Used offensively, however, the shield deals 1d8 points of damage when used to perform a Shield Punch, Shield Rush, or Shield Smite maneuver (instead of the normal d3), and grants a +1 bonus to the wielder’s attack rolls. When used in this way, Kropserkel’s Shield of Striking counts as both a magical weapon and cold iron for determining what creatures can be harmed by it, and may deal either bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage as the wielder desires, depending on which part of the shield is used to deliver the blow.

Weight: 9 lbs.
