In combat, Weariness functions as a +1 Small Shield, granting a +2 bonus to the wielder’s armor class against the first two attacks made against him each round.

Any enemy striking the bearer of Weariness finds their body tiring and their reactions slowing. Each successful attack against the bearer causes the attacker to suffer a 1 point penalty to Initiative until the end of the current encounter. This penalty is cumulative over multiple hits, to a maximum Initiative penalty of 10.

In addition, once per day the bearer of Weariness may cast Nap (as the 2nd-level priest spell) affecting up to three targets.
