Many gods died on the Day of Black Sun, but none of those deaths were as surprising as the death of Talona, the Mother of Plagues. Lathander, the Morninglord, was long known to keep charge of the chains that bound the prison of Ghaunadaur, the Ancient One, what few knew, however, was that that prison lay in the space between the Sun and the Moon. With the death of his warden fell conveniently on the day when his prison was the weakest, the Chained God burst his prison and spilled back into the greater cosmos.

While everyone else’s attention was still on the death of Lathander, Ghaunadaur’s first step was to track down and slay the “upstart” who had long ago stolen the portfolios of disease and decay from him…
